Pour la promotion et la défense du droit de la propriété intellectuelle
L'Union des Fabricants a 4 missions principales
- la coopération avec les États pour que la promotion et la defense de la propriété intellectuelle soit une priorité nationale et européenne
- la formation des agents opérationnels publics à la reconnaissance des contrefaçons ( douanes, police , gendarmerie, justice...)
- la sensibilisation des consommateurs aux conséquences de la contrefaçon, à travers des campagnes , des reportages, des événements, le Musée de la Contrefacon....
- le dialogue avec les acteurs du numériques et les intermédiaires pour assainir l offre de faux produits sur Internet
Bien évidemment elle propose un éventail de services à ses membres en fonction de leurs besoins et de l actualité .
L'Union des Fabricants œuvre aussi pour que la propriété industrielle soit protégée internationalement. Elle participe à l'élaboration de la Convention d'Union de Paris pour la protection de la propriété industrielle (1883) puis de l'Arrangement de Madrid concernant l'enregistrement international des marques de fabrique ou de commerce (1891).
Encouragée par ces succès, l'Union des Fabricants intervient dans l'élaboration de nombreux traités bilatéraux visant à renforcer la protection de la propriété industrielle entre la France, l'Autriche, le Portugal, les États Unis, la Grèce, le Pérou, la Russie...
En France elle est reconnue d'utilité publique dès 1877 et passe sous le régime de la loi sur les associations en 1901. Elle participe à la création de l'Office National des Marques de Fabrique et des Brevets d'Invention en 1901 et recommande l'établissement du premier registre des marques qui servira de base à l'Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle (INPI).
Actuellement, M. Christian Peugeot assure les fonctions de président de l'association et Mme Delphine Sarfati-Sobreira en a été nommée Directrice générale .
