Big Data applied to Aviation
Safety Line is a French innovative digital technology company, specialized in data management software solutions for aviation. With a team of highly experienced safety expert, data scientists and IT specialists, Safety Line is in a position to propose an extensive range of products able to match the world's issues challenges in air transport.
SAFETY LINE IS A PIONEER IN BIG DATA APPLIED TO AVIATION!
In aviation, safety is the number one priority. But Safety Line also began looking at novel ways to improve operations on the ground and in the air with specific focus on optimising fuel consumption and reducing associated emissons. Some 3 per cent of global CO2 emissions come from air traffic.
" We soon came to see that the flight data we were using to enhance airline safety could be used in other ways too".
Pierre Jouniaux, Founder and CEO of Safety Line
Central to Safety Line's product portfolio is OptiClimb, already in service with Transavia France, which uses data to optimise an aircraft's ascent profile.
Nowadays, all airlines climb at constant speed, burning up to 20 per cent of fuel wastefully. By optimising a plane's climb pattern OptiClimb makes crucial gains in consumption and emissions during the most fuel-intensive phase of a flight. It could mean savings of €66m each year for a carrier making 1,000 flights a day.
Having scooped the Big Data Innovation Trophy in 2015, Safety Line is currently talking to major players like Lufthansa, Azul and United.
