    La Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus dal 1989 raccoglie le eccedenze di produzione della filiera agro-alimentare e, attraverso la propria Rete di 21 organizzazioni diffuse sul territorio nazionale, le distribuisce a oltre 8.000 enti caritativi che si occupano di offrire aiuti alimentari ai poveri e agli emarginati in tutta Italia. La Rete Banco Alimentare raccoglie alimenti ancora ottimi che sarebbero destinati alla distruzione. Salvati dallo spreco, riacquistano valore e diventano ricchezza per chi ha troppo poco. Le principali fonti di approvvigionamento sono: l'Industria Alimentare, la Grande Distribuzione Organizzata, la Ristorazione Collettiva e l'Unione Europea. Nel 2010 sono state raccolte 75.000 tonnellate di alimenti, l'equivalente di 5.800 TIR. L'attività del Banco Alimentare è possibile grazie al lavoro quotidiano di oltre 1.400 volontari.
