C’est en 2011 que des citoyen.ne.s commencent à réfléchir au projet. Et c’est le 7 novembre 2015 que la monnaie fut lancée !
Le projet de La Gonette est composé de plusieurs facettes : économie locale, finance éthique, démocratie participative et éducation populaire.
L’objectif du projet est la mise en place d’une démocratie monétaire sur le territoire lyonnais. Comment ? En incluant tous ses acteurs : entreprises, habitant.e.s, collectivités locales, institutions et associations. La Gonette souhaite mettre une monnaie locale complémentaire au service de l’intérêt général et des besoins du territoire.
Comme de nombreuses monnaies locales, La Gonette est donc vouée à devenir une banque territoriale. Grâce à une gouvernance démocratique et horizontale, chacun des acteurs y a sa place et est invité à participer à la politique monétaire de son territoire.
