    Created in 1938 and state-approved in 1976, The Fédération Française des Diabétiques (Association Française des Diabétiques until 2013) is a patients’ association, led by patients to the benefit of patients, which accompanies, defends and informs people suffering from diabetes and those around them.

    It is a Federation with a national headquarters and a network of local associations spread over the national territory (metropolitan France and overseas departments). It brings together 93 associations. The Fédération Française des Diabétiques is a member of the International Diabetes Federation.

    Since 2012, the Fédération Française des Diabétiques organizes an annual national week diabetes prevention, early June. It also organizes annual events around the World Diabetes Day in Paris and throughout France.

    In March 2015, the Federation launched the Diabetes LAB (http://www.afd.asso.fr/association/actions/diabete-lab), living Lab for:

    • collect and refine the needs and uses of diabetic patients,
    • co-create the most suitable for these concepts identified needs for products or services,
    • test these innovations with volunteer patients, from idea to prototype,
    • accredit products and services meet the expectations of patients.

    Créée en 1938 et reconnue d'utilité publique en 1976, la Fédération Française des Diabétiques (Association Française des Diabétiques jusqu’en 2013) est une association de patients au service des patients et dirigée par des patients, qui accompagne, défend et informe les diabétiques et leur entourage.

    Elle est dotée d’un siège national et d’un réseau d'associations locales, réparties sur l’ensemble du territoire national (métropole et DOM). Elle regroupe 93 associations.

    La Fédération Française des Diabétiques est membre de la Fédération Internationale du Diabète.

    Depuis 2012, la Fédération Française des Diabétiques organise chaque année une semaine nationale de prévention du diabète, début juin. Elle organise aussi chaque année en novembre des événements autour de la Journée Mondiale du Diabète, à Paris et partout en France.

    En mars 2015, la Fédération lance le Diabète LAB (http://www.afd.asso.fr/association/actions/diabete-lab), un living lab destiné à :

    • recueillir et affiner les besoins et les usages des patients diabétiques,
    • co-créer les concepts de produits ou de services les plus adaptés à ces besoins identifiés,
    • tester ces innovations auprès de patients volontaires, de l’idée au prototype,
    • agréer les produits et services en adéquation avec les attentes des patients.
