L’association ELCS (Elus Locaux Contre le Sida) est une association à but non lucratif et non partisane, ouverte à toutes et tous.
L’association soutient et met en place des actions d’information et de prévention à destination des élus mais aussi auprès des patients et du grand public dans un but de prévention, d’information et d’action.
« Le sida n’est ni de droite ni de gauche » : partant de cette idée simple, l’association ELCS a été créée en 1995 par Jean-Luc Romero, premier élu à avoir parlé publiquement de sa sérologie. Unique dans le paysage associatif, cette association regroupe des élus français de tous bords politiques. Sur une question aussi importante, il est nécessaire de dépasser les clivages ! Notre association n’est rattachée à aucun parti ou mouvement politique.
INFORMER LES PATIENTS
Informer les patients et le grand public est aussi une mission quotidienne d’ELCS, avec par exemple, le site www.aids-sida-discriminations.fr : un site d’information pour les voyageurs séropositifs ainsi qu’un outil de plaidoyer pour la liberté de circulation et d’établissement des personnes vivant avec le VIH/sida.
Pour plus de visibilité, nous avons lancé en 2012, le label « Ville engagée contre le sida » pour que les villes les plus engagés dans cette lutte puissent, après acceptation de leur dossier, puissent afficher fièrement leur soutien dans ce combat pour la vie.
Notre association, est organisée en réseau, composée en délégations régionales et départementales. Les publications de l’association sont : ELCS Infos (lettre d’information trimestrielle), les Actes / Guide sida annuelle et diverses publications à destinations des élus, patients, professionnels et du grand public.
