L'AFEF (Association Française pour l'Etude du Foie) est la Société Française d'Hépatologie qui regroupe l'ensemble des médecins, chercheurs et cliniciens impliqués en Hépatologie. Créée le 17 novembre 1975, l'AFEF compte environ 480 membres.
L'AFEF a pour but de favoriser le développement de l'hépatologie en France et dans les pays de langue française et les échanges scientifiques entre hépatologues et chercheurs.
En tant que société savante de référence et « association reconnue d’utilité publique » par l’Etat français en 2005, l’AFEF est l’interlocuteur privilégié des institutions officielles et est la référence en matière de recommandations de prises en charge des traitements des maladies liées au foie.
