The Wind Ship association was created in 2019 under the impetus of maritime stakeholders who are mobilizing to realize work navigation projects (maritime transport, cruise, fishing) powered by wind.
Wind Ship is a professional association whose purpose is to support the structuring of a real wind propulsion sector in France, allowing the development of clean and decarbonized navigation.
Wind Ship promotes the know-how of the sector, engages in dialogue with public or private institutions and civil society, disseminates knowledge and develops projects.
Wind Ship is part of the international network mobilized by the International Windship Association (IWSA, http://wind-ship.org) which has been promoting this alternative solution to fossil fuels since 2014.
Faced with the challenges to be met: controlling emissions of atmospheric pollutants such as sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and fine particles, reducing GHG emissions, and reducing underwater noise, wind propulsion offers an immediately available solution adapted to multiple contexts.
Different technologies exist and are complementary to each other and/or with other alternative solutions, thus allowing the hybridization of ships to meet the specific needs of each navigation. The routing and automation solutions available today allow efficient and safe navigation.

Développer un transport maritime de moindre impact en structurant une filière compétitive de la propulsion par le vent
L'association Wind Ship est née en 2019 sous l'impulsion d'acteurs maritimes qui se mobilisent pour concrétiser des projets de navigation de travail (transport maritime, croisière, pêche) propulsée par le vent.
Wind Ship est une association professionnelle qui a pour finalité d'appuyer la structuration d'une véritable filière de la propulsion par le vent en France, permettant de développer une navigation propre et décarbonée.
Wind Ship promeut le savoir-faire de la filière, dialogue avec les institutions publiques ou privées et la société civile, diffuse les connaissances et développe des projets.
Wind Ship fait partie du réseau international mobilisé par l'International Windship Association (IWSA, http://wind-ship.org) qui promeut depuis 2014 cette solution alternative aux carburants fossiles.
Face aux enjeux à relever : maîtriser les émissions de polluants atmosphériques tels que les oxydes de soufre, d'azote et les particules fines, réduire les émissions de GES, et diminuer le bruit sous-marin, la propulsion par le vent offre une solution immédiatement disponible et adaptée à de multiples contextes.
Différentes technologies existent et sont complémentaires entre elles et/ou avec d'autres solutions alternatives, permettant ainsi l'hybridation des navires pour répondre aux besoins spécifiques de chaque navigation. Les solutions de routage et d'automatisation disponibles aujourd'hui permettent une navigation performante et sûre.
