Following the Ecoscope initiative (2011-2017) carried by the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity, the National Pole of Biodiversity Data (PNDB) created in 2018, is a Data Infrastructure Data Terra of the Terra-Environment System of the Higher System of Sweetness, Research (MESR) alongside other Odatis poles (Ocean) continental), form@ter (solid earth), and aeris (atmosphere). The PNDB contributes and actively participates in the open science policy of MESR and has since 2022 thematic reference center (Data Gouv research).
The objective of the PNDB aims to provide a coherent set of tools and services for the description, access, validation, analysis and reuse of biodiversity data, for research communities in order to take into account biodiversity over long time (from the origins of life), to all biological scales (from molecule to anthropo-ecosystem), and in all its interactions.
The current partner members of this research infrastructure are: the National Museum of Natural History, the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB) BRGM, CIRAD, CNRS - National Center for Scientific Research, Ifremer, INRAE, IRD, the French Biodiversity Office, AgroParistech, the University of Western Brittany, Grenoble Alpes, the University of Lille, the University of Paris-Saclay, the University of Montpellier, the University of Rennes 1, Sorbonne University, and the University of Franche-Comté

Pôle de données & services de l'IR Data Terra - Centre de référence thématiques - {méta}données de biodiversité
Faisant suite à l’initiative ECOSCOPE (2011-2017) portée par la Fondation pour la recherche sur la Biodiversité, le Pôle National de Données de Biodiversité (PNDB) créée en 2018, est un pôle de donnée de l'infrastructure de recherche Data Terra du Système Terre-Environnement du Ministère de l'Ensignement Supérieur, de la Recherche (MESR) aux côtés des autres pôles Odatis (océan), Theia (surfaces continentales), Form@ter (terre solide), et Aeris (Atmosphère). Le PNDB contribue et participe activement à la politique de Science ouverte du MESR et est depuis 2022 centre de référence thématique (Recherche Data Gouv).
Le PNDB a pour objectif de mettre à disposition un ensemble cohérent d’outils et de services pour la description, l’accès, la validation, l’analyse et la réutilisation des données de biodiversité, pour les communautés de recherche dans le but de prendre en compte la biodiversité sur le temps long (depuis les origines de la vie), à toutes les échelles biologiques (de la molécule à l’anthropo-écosystème), et dans toutes ses interactions.
