HQI: a quantum HPC hybrid calculation platform and a research program
In January 2022, a year after the President of the Republic of the National Quantum Plan, Neil Abroug, the coordinator of the national strategy launched HQI: France Hybrid HPC Quantum Initiative.
HQI is an integrated initiative. It associates a hybrid calculation platform coupling several quantum technologies with the Joliot Curie Curie SuperCalculator from TGCC (CEA), and a research program - academic and industrial, and dissemination of uses.
This quantum/HPC hybridization is an innovative and unique initiative, which will benefit from the recognized expertise of CEA/TGCC teams (very large calculation center) in the exploitation of infrastructure, security and support for scientists.
The HQI initiative aims to serve the needs of French and European academic and industrial researchers, wanting to assess free of charge on a public infrastructure the potential for quantum calculation for their applications as well as to develop international collaborations to promote open research.
HQI, is involved in the European project HPCQS, which made it possible to commission the first hybrid infrastructure #HPC #Quantum Ppieropian.

HQI : une plateforme de calcul hybride HPC quantique et un programme de recherche
En janvier 2022, un an après l’annonce par le président de la République du Plan National Quantique, Neil Abroug, le coordinateur de la stratégie nationale a lancé HQI : France Hybrid HPC Quantum Initiative.
HQI est une initiative intégrée. Elle associe une plateforme de calcul hybride couplant plusieurs technologies quantiques au supercalculateur Joliot Curie de GENCI au TGCC (CEA), et un programme de recherche – académique et industrielle, et de dissémination des usages.
Cette hybridation quantique/HPC est une initiative innovante et unique, qui bénéficiera de l’expertise reconnue des équipes du CEA/TGCC (Très Grand Centre de Calcul) dans l’exploitation des infrastructures, la sécurité et le support aux scientifiques.
L’initiative HQI vise à servir les besoins des chercheurs académiques et industriels français et européens, voulant évaluer gratuitement sur une infrastructure publique le potentiel du calcul quantique pour leurs applications ainsi qu’à développer des collaborations internationales pour favoriser la recherche ouverte.
HQI, est partie prenante du projet européen HPCQS, qui a permis la mise en service de la première infrastructure hybride #HPC #QuantumComputing paneuropéenne.
