A CIP – Confederação da Indústria Portuguesa nasce em julho de 1974 como resposta dos empresários à necessidade de promoção e defesa da livre iniciativa e da atividade privada. 1974 representa não só um novo ciclo político em Portugal mas também uma nova realidade no que às empresas e à sua organização diz respeito.
Em 2011, surge a CIP - Confederação Empresarial de Portugal como concretização de um ideal defendido pelos empresários nacionais, e corporizado pelas entidades mais representativas do associativismo empresarial português: AEP – Associação Empresarial de Portugal, AIP/CCI – Associação Industrial Portuguesa / Câmara de Comércio e Indústria e CIP – Confederação da Indústria Portuguesa.
Esta Confederação representa, através dos seus Associados, cerca de 47 mil empresas portuguesas, e chama a si a responsabilidade da defesa dos interesses das várias Associações que a compõem, albergando de forma transversal e equilibrada entidades associativas setoriais e regionais, bem como todas as Câmaras de Comércio e Indústria de Portugal.
