Créé il y a plus de 30 ans, l’IRQUALIM (Institut Régional de la Qualité Alimentaire d’Occitanie) a pour objet d’accompagner les agriculteurs et les entreprises agroalimentaires de la région dans la valorisation de leurs savoir-faire et de leurs produits en les faisant reconnaitre comme « officiellement bons ». Soutenu par la Région Occitanie, l’IRQUALIM s’appuie sur le dispositif des Signes d’Identification de la Qualité et de l’Origine au travers de l’AOC/AOP, de l’IGP, du Label Rouge ou encore de l’Agriculture Biologique. Ses missions sont l’accompagnement technique, la promotion, l’appui à la commercialisation et le développement de l'approvisionnement de proximité.
L’IRQUALIM rassemble les ODG (organisme de défense et de gestion) en charge des 247 productions sous SIQO d’Occitanie, les interprofessions et les partenaires institutionnels. L’IRQUALIM fédère tous les acteurs, de la terre à l’assiette. Ainsi, l’institut anime la communauté des Qualivores qui favorise la rencontre entre les ambassadeurs des produits d’origine et de qualité (producteurs, bouchers, restaurateurs, traiteurs, fromagers, cavistes...) et les consommateurs.
