2 years, 3 months ago[Automatic translation follows] The think tank of the mobility of the future which prepares the transition to desired and more sustainable lifestyles.
The Vies Mobile Forum is the think tank of mobility, supported by SNCF. His work focuses on lifestyles and the way in which trips structure their deployment, their rhythms and allow our activities to be organized (work, leisure, consumption, etc.). He studies their impacts on people, family, health, territory and the environment.
The speed, frequency and scale of our trips have increased sharply in recent decades. If in the 19th century a Frenchman surveyed an average of 4 kilometers a day, he travels 60 today. Rapid mobility has indeed democratized. Its practices are now recomposed by the use of digital technology.
Forum research shows that mobility, in contemporary lifestyles, is a source of freedom, but also of fatigue and alienation. Furthermore, congestion, pollution and the climate crisis strongly question it as well as the current organization of the territories.
In this context, the Vies Mobile Forum seeks to prepare the mobile transition. He defends the position according to which rapid mobility, based on petroleum, can no longer be a simple variable for adjusting other policies (housing, work, industry, ...).
To develop alternative and desired paths, the VIES Mobile Forum sets up debates, supervises research and artistic projects, launches experiments and disseminates knowledge at the international level, in particular via publications, its website and in the form of events. He seeks to give individuals, businesses and public actors, means to understand and debate the place of travel in our societies.
Since 2019, the VIES Mobile Forum has been positioned as a citizen think tank. He initiated a participatory democracy system for this: the Citizen Forum of Mobile Lives.
