Imaginée par Bruno Rousset, la Fondation Entrepreneurs de la Cité est née en 2006 grâce à l’engagement de 8 membres fondateurs (APRIL Group, CNP Assurances, Evolem, la Caisse des Dépôts, AG2R La Mondiale, Matmut, La Banque Postale, CFDP Assurances) et a été reconnue d’utilité publique par décret du 19 décembre 2008.
Elle assure une mission d’intérêt général en faveur de l’initiative entrepreneuriale des personnes défavorisées et a pour but de protéger les personnes exclues du monde du travail – chômeurs, bénéficiaires des minima sociaux, personnes handicapées, jeunes, seniors – qui créent leur entreprise.
La Fondation a été la première organisation en France à lancer le principe de micro-assurance développé dans les pays en émergence par Muhammad Yunus, Prix Nobel de la Paix, pour rendre accessible l’assurance aux créateurs d’entreprise modestes.
