Creada en 1966, la Fundación ha destinado sus recursos a fomentar el desarrollo sostenible de Galicia, especialmente iniciativas vinculadas a la educación.

    Banquero, empresario e impulsor de grandes iniciativas, Pedro Barrié de la Maza dedicó su vida (1888-1971) a trabajar por el progreso económico, social y cultural de su tierra, objetivo que hoy sigue persiguiendo la Fundación que desarrolla su actividad en los ámbitos de la Educación (con programas de becas y de gestión del talento), Acción Social (con proyectos de fortalecimiento del Tercer Sector o de apoyo a centros penitenciarios), Investigación (promoviendo la divulgación científica y la Investigación), Patrimonio (comprometiéndonos con la conservación de los bienes patrimoniales) y Cultura (desarrollando proyectos expositivos de Fotografía, Diseño, Patrimonio y Arquitectura).
