Lancé par le Secrétaire d’Etat au commerce extérieur français et l’ambassade de France en Côte d’Ivoire, le club Abidjan Ville Durable a été créé en avril 2016. Sa genèse part d’un constat : En 2030, 75 % de la population mondiale vivra en ville et 90 % de l’énergie produite sera consommé en milieu urbain. Alors même que le monde connait un développement de l’urbanisation très important, on demande à la ville d’augmenter ses efforts pour réduire le réchauffement climatique auquel elle contribue massivement. Ce phénomène d’urbanisation n’échappe pas à l’Afrique et encore moins à la Côte d’Ivoire.
En 15 ans, Abidjan a vu la taille de sa population doubler. Face à ces défis, les entreprises françaises se sont rassemblées pour aller à la rencontre d’experts, de décideurs, d’entrepreneurs ivoiriens pour travailler avec eux à la conception de leur ville du futur : une ville respectueuse de l’environnement, de l’art de vivre ivoirien, de la qualité de vie de ses habitants et de l’efficience de ces services. Pour qu’ensemble, cette ville se réalise, le club met à disposition de la Côte d’Ivoire l’expertise de ses membres, leur expérience et leur savoir-faire pour porter une réflexion sur l’avenir des villes du pays.
