Le Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche sur le Médicament de Normandie · CERMN · constitue aujourd’hui, avec ses quatre plateformes · Chimie Organique et Médicinale, Chemoinformatique, Chimiothèque, Screening et Drugabilité · une unité de recherche en Drug Design, interdisciplinaire, à l’interface des sciences physico-chimiques et biologiques. Le CERMN est capable de concevoir et de synthétiser des agents d’intérêt thérapeutique ou diagnostique, dont l’activité in vitro et la drugabilité sont avérées, pour permettre leur développement préclinique en collaboration avec des biologistes et des pharmacologues.
Les axes de recherche actuellement développés dans l'unité sont la cancérologie et les neurosciences avec, comme adressages scientifiques prioritaires, la polypharmacologie et les interactions protéine-protéine.
Son expertise dans le domaine a conduit le CERMN à créer en 2012 le Master Drug Design.
Le CERMN est une équipe d’accueil de l’Université de Caen, accueillant trente personnels permanents et une vingtaine d'étudiants et personnels temporaires ou invités.
