L’USIPA (Union des Syndicats des Industries des Produits Amylacés et de leurs dérivés) est née en 1946. Elle réunit aujourd’hui l’ensemble des industriels amidonniers, féculiers et fabricants de caramels ingrédients implantés en France.
L’industrie extrait les constituants du blé, du maïs, de la pomme de terre et du pois protéagineux : amidon, protéines, fibres et lipides (germes/huiles). De l’amidon sont issus une multitude d’ingrédients qui sont ensuite valorisés sous forme d’ingrédients destinés à l’alimentation humaine, la nutrition animale ou encore dans des applications industrielles : papiers-cartons, pharmacie, cosmétiques, ....
1er productrice en Europe, l’amidonnerie française valorise annuellement 6 millions de tonnes de matières premières végétales françaises. Présente sur le territoire via 10 sites industriels, elle génère un chiffre d’affaire annuel de l’ordre de 3 milliards € et près de 16 000 emplois (directs et indirects).
Filière innovante, l’industrie amidonnière dédie par ailleurs 2 à 3 % de son chiffre d’affaires annuel à la R&D, afin de proposer aux clients et aux consommateurs une gamme d’ingrédients répondant toujours mieux à leurs attentes.
Organisation professionnelle, l’USIPA fédère les industriels producteurs d’amidon. Elle porte leur voix et défend leurs intérêts aux niveaux français et européen, les accompagne dans leurs engagements pour les transitions alimentaire et écologique.
