The International Marseille Development Biology Institute (IBDM) brings together under a mixed supervision of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Aix Marseille University (AMU) 21 International Research Teams that explore the field of development biology and pathologies associated with it.

L’Institut de Biologie du Développement de Marseille (IBDM) de renommée internationale rassemble sous une tutelle mixte du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) et d’Aix Marseille Université (AMU) 21 équipes de recherche internationales qui explorent le domaine de la biologie du développement et des pathologies qui y sont associées.
Les recherches menées à l’IBDM visent à comprendre les mécanismes de la formation, de l’organisation et de la fonction des systèmes biologiques, ainsi que la nature des dérèglements à l’origine de nombreuses pathologies comme les malformations congénitales, les maladies neuro-dégénératives et les cancers.
Les équipes de l’IBDM mettent en oeuvre des approches inter-disciplinaires dans les domaines de la biologie du développement, de la physiologie, de la biologie moléculaire et cellulaire, de la génétique et de la mécanique, de la neurobiologie, de la génomique, et de la bioinformatique.
Outre sa mission première dans le domaine de la recherche fondamentale, l’IBDM soutient la valorisation de ses découvertes à visées thérapeutiques par la création et l'hébergement de start-ups. L’Institut contribue également à un enseignement de qualité par sa forte implication dans les cursus universitaires.
