    Un 1ero de noviembre de 1961, un grupo de ciudadanos visionarios tuvo la iniciativa de constituir y fundar la Asociación Mutualista de Ahorro y Crédito para la vivienda Pichincha.
    En una pequeña oficina de la calle Mejía, un entusiasta puñado de diez empleados, salía a recorrer las calles del centro de la ciudad de Quito para captar clientes promoviendo el ahorro como medio para acceder a una vivienda propia. Hecho histórico fue el verificar que la primera libreta de ahorros fue para el Presidente Constitucional de la República, Dr. José María Velasco Ibarra.
