The General Commission for Territories Equality is placed with the Minister responsible for regional planning and the city, responsible for designing and implementing the national territorial cohesion policy and ensuring their follow -up and inter -ministerial coordination.

Accompagner et faire réussir les territoires
Le Commissariat général à l'égalité des territoires est placé auprès du ministre chargé de l'aménagement du territoire et de la ville, chargé de concevoir et de mettre en œuvre la politique nationale de cohésion des territoires et d’en assurer le suivi et la coordination interministérielle.
Il est issu du regroupement de la Délégation à l’aménagement du territoire et à l’attractivité régionale (Datar), du Secrétariat général du comité interministériel des villes (SGCIV) et de l’Agence nationale pour la cohésion sociale et l’égalité des chances (Acsé).
Au plus proche du terrain et en relation étroite avec les collectivités territoriales et les préfets de région et de département, il vise à renouer avec une ambition de solidarité entre tous les territoires. Il permet aussi de rompre avec une approche sectorielle des politiques publiques pour privilégier une réflexion transversale et décloisonnée sur des sujets tels que l’accès aux services publics, le développement des capacités de chaque territoire, l’accompagnement des mutations économiques, l’impulsion de la transition écologique, la politique de la ville ou encore la création d’emplois locaux durables et non délocalisables.
Le CGET est notamment chargé de conduire la réforme d’ensemble de la politique de la ville issue de la loi de programmation du 21 février 2014.
Il coordonne la préparation et la mise en œuvre de la nouvelle politique contractuelle de l’Etat avec les collectivités locales dans le cadre des nouveaux contrats de plan Etat-Région (CPER) 2014-2020, ainsi que les décisions du comité interministériel aux ruralités du 13 mars 2015 et du comité interministériel à l'égalité et à la citoyenneté du 6 mars 2015.
