- Experian identified Burnley as one of the best in the northwest for business growth potential. Over 1/4 of companies in the town were identified as ‘high growth’ champions.
- Government think tank Centre for Cities listed Burnley as number 1 in the country for the proportion of employment in skilled manufacturing and we were positioned in the top 10% for growth in patent applications. In a 2017 report, Burnley was top 10 in the UK for total value of exports per job.
- We have a superb range of development opportunities: the 70 acre Burnley Bridge site, the 40 acre Aerospace Supply Village, the £100 million ‘On The Banks’ waterside scheme, and AMS Neve Technology Park.
- Other places cannot compete with our northern centrality, along with our road, rail and multiple airport connections.
- In 2013, Burnley was named the ‘Most Enterprising Area in the UK’. This accolade, awarded through the Government Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, recognised and celebrated the outstanding economic development work that has reshaped Burnley’s reputation.
- In, 2016, figures released by the ONS Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES), showed that Burnley ranked 2nd in the UK for digital job growth. The yearly digital job growth in Burnley during 2014-15 was at a whopping 161.8%, compared to the national digital job growth of just 2%.

On top of all this, we have one of the country’s largest private and public sector partnership schemes which sets us apart from the rest of Britain- the Burnley Bondholders.

With just under 200 members, the pioneering Burnley Bondholder scheme continues to reinvigorate the local economy and attract inward investment and celebrated 10 years in 2020.
