Réunis par le label de scène nationale dès 2015, Le Liberté et Châteauvallon, dirigés par Charles Berling, portent un projet artistique et culturel commun, déployé sur deux lieux complémentaires de la métropole toulonnaise, l’un en centre-ville, l’autre sur une colline au milieu de huit hectares de pinède. La pluridisciplinarité – de genres, de formes – est au cœur du projet de la Scène nationale et se décline à Châteauvallon par une saison de spectacles qui a pour point d’orgue un grand festival d’été en extérieur (amphithéâtre et jardins), et au Liberté, par de nombreux temps forts thématiques qui viennent rythmer et enrichir les spectacles de la saison. Ces programmations trouvent dans la 7e Scène, la scène virtuelle, une continuité inédite en permanente mutation.
Les actions culturelles tiennent une place essentielle, entre projets participatifs et outils de sensibilisation, elles insufflent une dynamique particulière en ancrant les théâtres dans leur territoire et dans les sujets de société de manière innovante, les Courts-métrages en Liberté, les ateliers pluridisciplinaires, l’Itinérance.
Les équipements de la Scène nationale offrent également les outils nécessaires au développement d’une politique de soutien à la création volontaire et ambitieuse : résidences d’artistes, mises à disposition des plateaux, productions déléguées,coproductions et diffusion.
En pleine expansion, Châteauvallon-Liberté ambitionne d’incarner un grand pôle d’excellence ouvert sur la Méditerranée, en provoquant la rencontre entre le spectacle vivant et d’autres champs de création et d’innovation – botanique, architecture, sport, art, science, gastronomie, numérique...– , pour appréhender de nouvelles voies d’accès à la culture pour tous, tout en affichant résolument les valeurs de diversité, d’ouverture, de respect de la nature, d’égalité femme-homme, qui sont les piliers du projet.
