Using a consistent report notation increases the speed of analysis and the accuracy of decisions.

IBCS is an initiative of the FP&A and Business Intelligence community. We want to create and establish a visual language for designing charts and tables. Like Wikipedia, this IBCS notation is free available under the Creative Commons CC-BY SA license. Its development is governed by the not-for-profit IBCS Association. In August 2024, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) initiated a new project, “ISO/AWI 24896 Standard Notation for Business Reports.”, based on IBCS Notation. You are welcome to join this association with a free membership.

The IBCS project was initiated by the commercial IBCS Institute. Today it hosts the IBCS project and provides corresponding services and material. These include the delivery of seminars and training courses, the IBCS certification of consultants, analysts, and software packages, as well as the provision of educational material in a web-shop.
