Skycoin leverages blockchain to provide a universal, decentralized and secure mesh-internet. Empowering people to become their own ISPs and offering a faster and cheaper internet free from censorship.

Skycoin addresses the drawbacks of Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus by introducing a Web-of-Trust consensus protocol called Obelisk. Obelisk is ecological, boasting free transactions, and, unlike PoW and PoS, is designed to prevent centralization in the consensus of the blockchain.

By addressing issues inherent to other blockchains, Skycoin evolved into a project and a launching platform for incorporating blockchain architecture into relevant businesses. This is the Skycoin we have today.
