L’UNSS est la 1re fédération du sport scolaire présidée par le ministère de l’Éducation Nationale. Et la 2e fédération sportive de France avec plus d'un million de licenciés.
Elle fédère l’ensemble des Associations Sportives (AS) et organise les rencontres du niveau local jusqu’au niveau national et international.
La mission de l’UNSS est d’organiser et développer la pratique d’activités sportives et artistiques et l’apprentissage de la vie associative pour et par les élèves.
Plus que jamais tournée vers la jeunesse, l’UNSS promeut un projet éducatif dans le respect des valeurs de la République, lié à l’appropriation culturelle des sports et des activités physiques et artistiques
