Créée en 1946, l'Assemblée des Départements de France (ADF) est une association pluraliste qui réunit les Présidents des 102 collectivités adhérentes, dont 95 Départements et 7 collectivités territoriales à compétences départementales.
L’ADF remplit cinq grandes missions :
‣représenter les Départements auprès des pouvoirs publics nationaux et européens ;
‣constituer un centre de ressources pour les Départements ;
‣offrir un lieu d’échanges d’expériences et de bonnes pratiques pour les élus et les techniciens départementaux ;
‣être un lieu de confrontation d’idées et d’élaboration de positions communes sur les grands dossiers nationaux ;
‣valoriser le rôle et l’action des Départements auprès des citoyens.
L’ADF entretient également des relations étroites avec les parlementaires, afin que les positions des Départements soient prises en compte dans les différents travaux législatifs.
Depuis le 27 Juillet 2021, l’ADF est présidée par François SAUVADET, Président du Département de la Côte d'Or.
