A major public health problem, chronic pain today affects 1 out of 5 adults, or more than 12 million French people. And as the therapeutic arsenal is both aging and insufficient, almost 2 thirds of patients believe that their pain is insufficiently controlled.
Pain also has a very important impact on occupational health. Dorsal pain is the 1st cause of incapacity in the world and musculoskeletal disorders represent the 1st cause of occupational disease in France. The pain in itself impacts 88 million working days per year in France.
Fighting pain is therefore a real issue for the 21st century; A challenge that continues to grow with the aging of the population!
It is to respond to this challenge whose impact remains underestimated when it should be a national cause, that we are committed to moving the lines, by creating in 2014, the Institut Analgesia.
The partnership foundation "Institut Analgesia" is the first research foundation dedicated to pain innovation. It is based on an expertise over 20 years of age research on pain. The Foundation acts concretely by building and coordinating care and research programs, with a fundamental principle: putting the patient at the heart of each project.
New drugs, new e-health approaches and new technologies (big data, algorithms, machine learning ...), a multidimensional innovation with a single objective: allow millions of French people to find a painless life!

1ère fondation de recherche contre la douleur en France
Problème majeur de santé publique, la douleur chronique touche aujourd’hui 1 adulte sur 5, soit plus de 12 millions de Français. Et comme l’arsenal thérapeutique est à la fois vieillissant et insuffisant, près des 2 tiers des patients estiment que leur douleur est insuffisamment contrôlée.
La douleur a également un impact très important sur la santé au travail. La douleur dorsale est la 1ère cause d’incapacité dans le monde et les troubles musculo-squelettiques représentent la 1ère cause de maladie professionnelle en France. La douleur à elle-seule impacte 88 millions de journées de travail par an en France.
Lutter contre la douleur est donc un véritable enjeu pour le XXIème siècle ; enjeu qui ne cesse de croître avec le vieillissement de la population !
C’est pour répondre à cet enjeu dont l’impact reste sous-estimé alors qu’il devrait être une cause nationale, que nous nous sommes engagés à faire bouger les lignes, en créant en 2014, l’Institut Analgesia.
La Fondation partenariale « Institut ANALGESIA » est la première fondation de recherche dédiée à l’innovation contre la douleur. Elle s’appuie sur une expertise de plus de 20 ans en recherche sur la douleur. La Fondation agit concrètement en construisant et coordonnant des programmes de soins et de recherche, avec un principe fondamental : mettre le patient au cœur de chaque projet.
Nouveaux médicaments, nouvelles approches e-santé et nouvelles technologies (big data, algorithmes, machine learning...), une innovation multidimensionnelle avec un unique objectif : permettre à des millions de français de retrouver une vie sans douleur !
