The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products is the public player who allows, on behalf of the State, access to health products in France and which ensures their safety throughout their life cycle. At the heart of the health system, we act at the service of patients and their safety.
We promote access to innovative products via authorization procedures adapted to each stage of the life of the drug before and after its placing on the market.
Through our assessments, expertise and our surveillance policy, we make sure that the health products available in France are safe, efficient, accessible and well used.
We are 900 employees, spread over three sites: Saint-Denis, Lyon and Montpellier-Vendargues.
We rely on a network of national, European and global expertise and supervision in compliance with the principles of ethics and transparency.
Our missions
Any health product presents profits but also risks: we speak of “balance benefit”. Our mission is to ensure that this balance is positive. And this, from the stage of the development of a therapeutic innovation.
This is how, with the aim of facilitating access to innovative products in complete safety for patients, the ANSM intervenes in different methods in order to support innovation and supervise its provision early, safe and fair.

L’Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé est l’acteur public qui permet, au nom de l’État, l’accès aux produits de santé en France et qui assure leur sécurité tout au long de leur cycle de vie. Au cœur du système de santé, nous agissons au service des patients et de leur sécurité.
Nous favorisons l’accès à des produits innovants via des procédures d’autorisation adaptées à chaque stade de la vie du médicament avant et après sa mise sur le marché.
Au travers de nos évaluations, nos expertises et notre politique de surveillance, nous nous assurons que les produits de santé disponibles en France soient sûrs, efficaces, accessibles et bien utilisés.
