Organizacja założona w 2010 roku zrzesza 17 organizacji regionalnych i 19 organizacji branżowych. Obok zajmowania stanowisk we wszystkich kluczowych zagadnieniach debaty publicznej ZPP prowadzi szereg dedykowanych aktywności w ramach Forum Cyfrowego, Pracy, Energii i Klimatu i Zdrowia. Organizujemy około 40 autorskich wydarzeń rocznie.
ZPP jest organizacją apolityczną wspierającą wolny rynek, uczciwą konkurencję, stabilność i przejrzystość prawa oraz zdrowy rozsądek, niezależnie od podziałów politycznych.
Jesteśmy reprezentatywną organizacją pracodawców będącą członkiem Rady Dialogu Społecznego w Polsce. ZPP jest reprezentowane w Brukseli poprzez Biuro Przedstawicielskie, członkostwo w European Enterprise Alliance oraz członkostwo w SME Connect. Związek posiada dwóch przedstawicieli w Europejskim Komitecie Ekonomiczno-Społecznym. Od lipca 2022 roku ZPP prowadzi biuro w Kijowie aktywnie wspierając rozwój polsko ukraińskiej współpracy gospodarczej.
